"Talk about Paige without bringing up Caitlin?" - WNBA fans dispute podcaster's claim of Caitlin Clark's supposed media advantage over Paige Bueckers

WNBA fans went after podcaster "Jay-O" on X (formerly Twitter) over his comments about Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers. The "Stoner Sports Network" member said it was "crazy" to see how the media wasn't as interested in Paige Bueckers during her potential final college season than it was for Caitlin Clark.

He criticized the decision, but many fans criticized his take.

"It’s actually crazy how small of a media push Paige gets comparatively to what they were doing for Caitlin. Not smart media in my opinion.. at times I feel the ppl in charge know very little about what they should be doing," the podcaster said.

Plenty of fans took issue with this, as several of them didn't like the comparisons between Bueckers and Clark.

"Can you talk about Paige without bringing up Caitlin?" one fan questioned.

"What narratives/storylines does Paige have that were compelling like CC’s? She’s not breaking records, she’s not coming off a NPOTY or championship appearance, she plays for a blue blood program like 95% of the WNBA did, she’s 23. I don’t see how the 2 are comparable in any way," another fan argued.

"I disagree Jay. CC's rise was organic. We can spot a media push & it doesn't work. I see JuJu & Paige being pushed. Both fantastic players. It's not resonating because it's not organic," another fan said.

Others recalled the Caitlin Clark was an exciting player to watch, implying that Bueckers doesn't draw the same attention.

"Paige is great but not as exciting to watch, imo," one fan said.

At this time of the year, it's hard to beat all the competitions taking place. The NFL is in the final stretch of the season, the NBA is starting, college basketball and football are in a good moment, which must make it hard to cover Paige.

Comparisons between these two players have been a common thing for the past two years or so. They starred in many battles that improve each other's games and Bueckers keeps the best memories from her time clashing with Clark.

"Caitlin brought so much new attention to the rise of women's college basketball and the WNBA and women's sports in general," Bueckers said a couple of weeks ago. "I feel like the weight of the world is on her shoulder and she just has this heavy burden to carry and she does it with grace and humility."

If Bueckers decided to enter the WNBA Draft next year, Caitlin Clark will welcome an well-known opponent.
