Last season, NaLyssa Smith was one of the few players to get to compete alongside Caitlin Clark during her historic rookie season. As her future with the organization remains uncertain, she's reminiscing on some of her favorite moments.

Clark captivated fans across the WNBA with her elite-level scoring and playmaker. One of the more jaw-dropping parts of her game is her 3-point shooting, most notably, her ability to knock down shots far beyond the arc.

As the offseason rolls along, NaLyssa Smith is looking back on what Clark and the Fever were able to accomplish this season. She posted an old clip of the All-Star guard knocking down a logo 3, on her Instagram story.

"from the block 2 the shot u jus had to be there," Smith wrote.

Here's the full clip of what Smith re-posted early Friday morning:

Smith wrapped her third season with the Fever this year after being drafted second overall in 2022. Across 40 games, she averaged 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists. Smith saw a slight dip in playing time and production in 2024, but this likely stemmed from the new faces brought in.

NaLyssa Smith makes cryptic post on Instagram ahead of expansion draft

In April, the Indiana Fever exercised the option on NaLyssa Smith's contract. That said, there's a chance that she's not suiting up for the franchise next season.

As they prepare for the entry of a new team, the WNBA will hold an expansion draft for the Golden State Valkyries. Each team is able to protect a handful of players on its roster, and the incoming franchise picks from the pool of remaining talent.

Ahead of the expansion draft, NaLyssa Smith made a rather cryptic post on her Instagram story. She touched on knowing your value and not going where you aren't appreciated, leading to speculation that she could be drafted by Golden State.

As of now, it's unclear if Smith is among the players the Fever protected in Friday's expansion draft. If she isn't, there might be a chance that Golden State decides to take a chance on her. As a former top pick who has put up strong numbers in the past, Smith could make sense for the new franchise.

There's no telling what Smith made that Instagram post about, but the timing is noteworthy. Even if she remains in Indiana post-expansion draft, it appears that there might be some form of disconnect growing.
