A'ja Wilson was seen posing with singer Darius Rucker after the Las Vegas Aces secured an 86-75 victory over the Indiana Fever on Wednesday. The official X handle of the WNBA uploaded the video of the two iconic personalities meeting each other.
The video starts with the photographer calling cues for Wilson and Rucker. The Aces star and the singer held their poses, standing beside each other for the picture. Afterward, Rucker showered praise on the Aces standout. Wilson humbly accepted the appreciation and displayed her gratitude, thanking the singer multiple times.
The duo shook hands before going their separate ways. A'ja Wilson delivered a spectacular performance against the Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. She scored a double-double, netting 27 points, collecting 12 rebounds and dishing out two assists. She also made three crucial blocks and two great steals, contributing to her team's victory.
Wilson was an unstoppable force, giving the Indiana Fever players guarding her a hard time. She went 11 of 28 from the field and 5 of 7 from the 3-point line, breaking the WNBA single-season scoring record and surpassing the 939-point mark set by Jewell Loyd.
A'ja Wilson is averaging 27.3 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game and is a frontrunner for the league MVP award.
A'ja Wilson's white T-shirt mentality impresses WNBA legend
A'ja Wilson has made quite the buzz with her pregame outfits. The Aces star has been wearing white T-shirts coming into games. When asked about it, she revealed it to be related to the average season the Las Vegas Aces are having. WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper expressed her views on Wilson's white T-shirts during her time on the "Come and Talk 2 Me" show.
Cooper explained that Wilson wearing white tees coming into games is a testament to her grounded personality. She remarked that the Aces star is looking to level up on the court before she sports anything fancy.
"She is a beast! She is not relying on the past, or, ‘Oh, we won two national championships or two world championships!’" Cooper said. "She’s like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna wear white T-shirts, y’all. Because I don’t think I have earned the right to get really dressed up.
"I gotta roll up the sleeves and get back to work.’ That is the mentality of a winner! The mentality of a champion! The mentality of a player that wants to be great, that has not arrived! She knows she hasn’t arrived."
A'ja Wilson is having an MVP-caliber season with the Aces, and although the LA camp has had a rocky season so far, it has not affected Wilson's elite delivery on the court.
