Caitlin Clark’s journey in the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has officially begun as she participated in the "ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican" event at The Annika at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.

At the event, Clark will team up with world No. 1 Nelly Korda for the front nine and 10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam, who is hosting the tournament, for the back nine during Wednesday's pro-am.

Caitlin Clark made her introduction at the first tee of the Pro-Am, hitting last. According to Indiana Fever reporter Scott Agnes, Clark joked that she should’ve been the one to tee off first. Watch the moment below.

The event, featuring the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, runs until Sunday.

Clark previously participated in the pro-am for the 2023 John Deere Classic.

At the LPGA Women's Leadership Summit on Tuesday, Clark shared insights into her golf background, revealing that growing up, she often played golf with her father, and naming PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy as her favorite golfer.

In her rookie season, the guard averaged 19.2 points, a league-leading 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds, breaking several records along the way. She set new WNBA rookie records for both points and assists, including the most assists in a single season by any player and the most assists in a single game with 19.

Caitlin Clark says she has no plans to pursue a professional golf career

Although Caitlin Clark has demonstrated her versatility in sports, having played football and basketball as a child and even tried golf, she has suggested the idea of becoming a professional golfer. However, she quickly clarified that it was just a joke.

"No, I've practiced a little bit and I just had the quote about becoming a professional golfer. Everybody thought I was serious. I was not serious. I love it. I love being outside and making it competitive with my friends," she said on Tuesday (per ESPN).

She also humorously noted that her main goal at the LPGA event was to avoid hitting anyone with a golf ball.

"I'm strong, and I can hit it. It just usually doesn't go straight," Clark said. "I mean sometimes it goes straight, but it depends. You just step up there and hope for the best. ... I just don't want to hit anyone with a golf ball. That's my No. 1 priority."

While many WNBA players typically play in international leagues during the offseason, including the upcoming Unrivaled 3x3 league with Angel Reese and other WNBA stars, Caitlin Clark has opted for golf for now, although she has been offered a spot in the Unrivaled league.
