Caitlin Clark just wrapped up her debut regular season with the Indiana Fever. Fittingly, the last regular season game of the Fever marked a high point for WNBA attendance. 20,711 people packed into the Capital One Arena to watch one of the most prominent faces of the league take on the Mystics.
The Indiana Fever phenom looks to have the Rookie of the Year wrapped up and seems set to make the All-WNBA first team as well.
Along the way, she has set several astounding records. Let us look at the most incredible statistical achievements by Clark in her first WNBA regular season.
Caitlin Clark WNBA records: 10 statistical achievements in rookie season
#10 Most All-Star Game fan votes ever
The massive popularity of Caitlin Clark can be summed up by this one stat. She made history in July by racking up 700,735 votes for the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game played at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. She smashed the previous record set by A'ja Wilson, who got 577,000 votes back in 2022.
#9 WNBA single-season turnover record
This record is an unwanted one. Boasting a 26.2% usage rate, Clark had the ball in her hands a lot. After struggling with turnover issues in the early part of the season, she settled into her role as a distributor.
However, the Fever PG ends the season with a 1.51 AST/TO ratio, which puts her 35th in the league. In the process, she set the record for most turnovers (223) by a player in WNBA history.
This should not be seen as an ominous sign. As a rookie, NFL quarterback Peyton Manning also set the rookie record for most interceptions thrown. If she follows in his footsteps, she will be just fine.
#8 WNBA single-season record for assists
Despite her high number of turnovers, Caitlin Clark led the league in assists right from the jump. She marshaled the Fever first unit ably, dishing dimes at a historic volume and setting the single-season record for assists.
Clark also set the record for most assists in a single WNBA game on July 17, 2024, with 19 assists against the Dallas Wings.
#7 Most Points by a rookie ever
The previous record for this was held by Seimone Augutus, who set it in 2006. The Minnesota Lynx Rookie of the Year Award Winner accumulated 744 points in 34 games in her first season. She was the only WNBA rookie to surpass the 700-point mark before Caitlin Clark scored 769 points this season.
#6 Most 3P by a rookie ever
Caitlin Clark was compared to Steph Curry and Damian Lillard before she entered the league and her first season proved that these comparisons were not out of place.
She set the rookie record for most 3P FGM in a season with 122, smashing the previous record (85) set by Rhyne Howard in the 2022 season.
In a larger context, her rookie season ranks second all-time in terms of 3P FGM, only behind Sabrina Ionescu.
#5 Most double-doubles in a season in Indian Fever franchise history
In college, the record-breaking playmaker recorded 36 double-doubles for the Iowa Hawkeyes. In her historic 2022-2023 season alone, she achieved 17 double-doubles.
In her rookie WNBA season, Clark did not slow down one bit and promptly broke the record for most double-doubles in a season (14) in Fever history. Her teammate Aliyah Boston was also the beneficiary of her playmaking, recording the third-most (13) in a season.
#4 Ninth rookie to be named a WNBA All-Star starter
Caitlin Clark became only the ninth player in WNBA history to be named to the All-Star Game in their rookie season. Angel Reese, her arch-rival since college, also made it on the first go.
Other notable WNBA stars to make the list include: Candace Parker (2008), Seimone Augustus (2006) and Courtney Vandersloot (2011).
#3 First triple-double in franchise history
Caitlin Clark became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double when she finished with 19 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds. She also became the first player to record a triple-double in Fever history, against the Liberty in July.
In her most dominant performance of the season, Caitlin Clark defeated the LA Sparks on September 4 with her second triple-double of the season.
#2 First rookie to be named WNBA Player of the Month
Caitlin Clark gave the league a glimpse of what she might look like in her second year, averaging 24.0 PPG, 8.5 APG and 5.2 RPG in August.
She won the Eastern Conference Player of the Month award and on the way, became the fastest rookie in WNBA history to record, at least, 400 points and 200 assists (in just 26 games).
#1 Most Career Games with 25+ Points and 10+ Assists
There are only nine games in WNBA history with one player scoring 25+ Points and 10+ Assists.
Caitlin Clark claimed three of them in the space of a month, going back-to-back in consecutive games against Chicago Sky and Dallas Wings on Aug 30 and Sep 1, respectively.
Rookies rarely lead rebuilding teams into the playoffs on their own but Clark managed to overturn a 1-8 start at the end of June into a playoff spot.
Excitement will be at fever pitch when she starts her maiden playoff journey on Sunday.
