Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever qualified for the 2024 WNBA playoffs after an impressive performance in the second half of the season. The Fever are in the postseason for the first time since 2016, when they lost in the first round to the Phoenix Mercury.

Indiana won't have homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoff, though they could force a game at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Being the lower seed means that the Fever will play the first two games on the road, and if they win one, their Game 3 will be at home in Indianapolis.

3 teams the Indiana Fever could face in the first round of the 2024 WNBA playoffs

According to the Indianapolis Star, the Connecticut Sun are the most likely opponent for the Indiana Fever in the first round of the playoffs. The Sun have an 87.5% chance of finishing No. 3 at the end of the regular season.

They will need to win their last two games against the Minnesota Lynx and Chicago Sky to avoid any seeding problems.

In the regular season, the Sun dominated the series against the Fever 3-1. However, their first three matchups happened early in the season when Indiana was still trying to build chemistry and rhythm. The Fever finally defeated the Sun 84-80 on Aug. 28.

#2 Las Vegas Aces

The Las Vegas Aces need to win their last two games and hope that the Connecticut Sun lose their last two to secure the No. 3 spot. The Aces own the tiebreaker over the Sun, so having an identical record means they have the advantage.

As for the Aces-Fever matchup, Las Vegas throttled Indiana in their first two matchups at the Michelob ULTRA Arena and T-Mobile Center. The final two games at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse were much closer, although the back-to-back champs found a way to remain undefeated against Caitlin Clark and company.

The Minnesota Lynx currently occupies the second seed and they likely want to end the season in that position. The Lynx will have to lose their last two games to drop to No. 3 but it's unlikely to happen. They are the best team in the WNBA since the break with an incredible record of 13-1.

Indiana is 1-2 against the Lynx this season, winning the first meeting back on July 14 before the start of the Olympics break. Minnesota bounced back with two wins over the Fever on Aug. 24 and Sept. 6. The playoffs are scheduled to start on Sept. 22.
