New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart has cracked the top five in this week's WNBA Most Valuable Player ladder race. Stewart, a two-time MVP, was a victim of having a great team, with the defending champions firing on all cylinders. They enter the current week with an 8-0 record.

Caitlin Clark has dropped off after missing another week due to a quad injury. She still has the second-best odds of winning the WNBA MVP award this season, but she needs to regain her health quickly. Napheesa Collier has started to separate herself from the pack, with the Minnesota Lynx off to a historic 9-0 start.

Let's look at this week's WNBA MVP power rankings.

The two-time WNBA MVP made her season debut in this week's ladder race. The New York Liberty has been playing exceptionally well, but does not have a standout player. Breanna Stewart took the cake this week after dropping 26 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Washington Mystics.

With Caitlin Clark gone after two weeks of inactivity, Stewart gets the nod over Sabrina Ionescu. The teammates could interchange next week depending on Clark's potential return to the court.

After making her debut in the WNBA MVP ladder race last week at No. 3, Allisha Gray dropped by one spot. Gray and the Atlanta Dream played just one game in the past seven days, which was a disappointing loss to the lowly Connecticut Sun.

Gray finished with just 11 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. If the Dream could regain their composure, the 30-year-old guard has a shot at climbing up again as early as next week.

Despite the Phoenix Mercury's 1-2 record last week, Satou Sabally moved by one spot in the WNBA MVP ladder race. Sabally put up decent numbers last week as she continues to have a fantastic first season in The Valley.

Alyssa Thomas has taken a backseat in Phoenix, with Sabally thriving in her new environment. She was acquired in the offseason in a four-team blockbuster trade with the Connecticut Sun, Dallas Wings and Indiana Fever.

The reigning three-time WNBA MVP has not looked like herself at times this season. The Las Vegas Aces only had one game last week, suffering a shocking 95-68 loss against the Golden State Valkyries. It highlighted the inconsistencies of the Aces to start the campaign.

A'ja Wilson might not be playing at her best, but she remains second in the WNBA MVP race. She's still putting up excellent numbers despite the Aces' struggles early on. They need to find more motivation to help the team out.

After just a month of play, Napheesa Collier has seemingly cemented herself as the favorite to win the WNBA MVP award. Collier is starting to pull away from the competition, with A'ja Wilson's Aces struggling, Caitlin Clark's injury and other candidates' inconsistencies.

The Lynx are off to an amazing start at 9-0 and are hell-bent on returning to the WNBA Finals to finish what they started last year. They came up short in overtime of Game 5, which was the final game of the season.
