The battle for the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year is at its last stop. With most teams ready to play the last two games of the season, the SPOTY competition has been narrowed down to just a few, and Aces veteran Tiffany Hayes seems to be the favoritw ahead of the Minnesota Lynx's Myisha Hines-Allen.
With Hayes and Hines-Allen being the favorites, take a look at the top five candidates and their case for the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year award this season.
WNBA Sixth Player of the Year 2024 final rankings
#5 Dana Evans - Chicago Sky
Dana Evans has been crucial for the Chicago Sky this season. Since being drafted in 2021, Evans has been consistent as a bench player and her contribution has come on both ends of the floor.
However, this season, Evans has struggled from the floor. She has made good use of her minutes by shooting well beyond the arc and distributing the ball on the floor.
Evans has missed just one game for the Sky this season and she should be crucial for her team with two games remaining in the season. The Sky is tied with two other teams with the same record in a battle for the eighth playoff spot.
#4 Jordan Horston - Seattle Storm
The Seattle Storm's bench has the fourth-best NET rating in the league this season and a lot of credit goes to Jordan Horston. She has been her team's bench leader throughout the season and has appeared in 37 games.
Harston has been excellent at the forward position off of the bench. She has been shooting the ball with great efficiency and has been great rebounding the ball as well.
The Storm has already qualified for the playoffs. Going into the postseason, Horston will have a bigger responsibility on her shoulders.
#3 Shatori Walker-Kimbrough - Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics have rallied from starting the first quarter of the season as the worst team in the WNBA to a team on the verge of making the playoffs. Shatori Walker-Kimbrough has played a crucial part in elevating her team.
Walker-Kimbrough has played every game for her team and has started two of them. However, she has been impactful on both ends of the floor.
#2 Myisha Hines-Allen - Minnesota Lynx
Myisha Hines-Allen's impact on the success of the Minnesota Lynx has been profound since being traded by the Mystics. Despite playing from the forward position, the Lynx SPOTY candidate has shown that she can play positionless basketball as well. Hines-Allen has been highly impactful for her team on both ends.
Interestingly, the Lynx has been excellent in road games for her team. She has shot, rebounded and distributed the ball far better than home games. The Lynx's bench has used Hines Allen's energy to fuel their offense from the bench.
The Lynx bench's offense is third-best in the league and Hines-Allen's Sixth Player of the Year candidacy should get a boost from it.
#1 Tiffany Hayes - Las Vegas Aces
What a comeback it has been for Tiffany Hayes this season. After deciding to retire from professional basketball, the Las Vegas Aces convinced Hayes to come out of retirement. She hasn’t only proved that she has still got it but has also shown how impactful she can be for a championship-caliber team.
This season, Hayes has played 31 games and her impact has been all across the board. She provides instant offense coming off the bench. With the starting lineup filled with stars, Hayes has not lost her identity on a championship team and that is perhaps her biggest achievement.
This season, of the 31 games she has played, she has come off the bench 27 times. She has been very efficient from the field shooting 49.8% from the field and 39.5% from the 3-point line. She leads the race for the Sixth Player of the Year Award with two games remaining.
