Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton, No Way Out 2006

Rey Mysterio had a guaranteed title match at Wrestlemania 22, courtesy of his epic victory in the 2006 Royal Rumble match. But Randy Orton considered that Mysterio’s victory as a fluke and ridiculed Mysterio which led to this match at No Way Out 2006. Rey Mysterio’s World Championship match at Wrestlemania was on the line as both men battled in a singles match. Randy Orton got the pinfall victory in an illicit manner as he used the ropes as leverage. Due to this victory, Orton stole the world title match opportunity from Rey Mysterio. But his joy was cut-short very soon as Teddy Long, the smackdown general manager, turned Randy’s Wrestlemania match against Kurt Angle into a triple threat including Rey Mysterio. And what happened in that match is history as Mysterio went on to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career.
