In a wonderful gesture, Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has personally written dedicated letters to Haryana wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Babita Kumari who are headed for Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next month to represent the nation in Women’s Freestyle Wrestling.

Having won a gold medal each at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in their respective categories, Vinesh Phogat will be participating in 48 kg while her cousin Babita is set to chase glory in the 53 kg division at Rio 2016.

Aamir’s upcoming flick ‘Dangal’ is a biographical sports drama centred around the real-life Mahavir Singh Phogat, father of prominent Indian wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari and uncle of Vinesh Phogat. During the shooting of the movie, he had the opportunity to interact with the talented sporting members of the Phogat family and has maintained contact with them ever since.

With little over three weeks to go for the greatest sporting extravaganza on Earth to flag off at Rio, Aamir Khan chose to deliver his regards in the old-fashioned way of handwritten letters to the wrestlers of his family as has been portrayed in ‘Dangal’.

For any sportsperson, the Olympics are the greatest stage to shine at. Realising the same, the actor has wished his very best for the Phogat sisters through his letters, which the delighted girls will now be reportedly carrying with them when they fly off to the Brazilian destination next month.
