Veteran journalist Dave Meltzer has claimed that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H made a big mistake by not signing a 6'1 AEW star in WWE. The star being discussed is none other than Will Ospreay.

The Aerial Assassin was one of the biggest free agents in the market earlier this year before he joined forces with the Tony Khan-led All Elite Wrestling. Reportedly, the Stamford-based promotion approached Ospreay but the two parties couldn't make a deal. The former NJPW star revealed that Tony Khan offered better money and schedule, which persuaded him to join the Jacksonville-based promotion.

During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about WWE losing the opportunity to hire Will Ospreay. Meltzer stated that The King of Kings should've made a better offer.

''Those Triple H comments, they aged like milk. Like stale milk. There's no way you can watch this guy, and with any kind of a straight face, go like, 'Oh, he's not good enough for us. His attitude isn't good enough!' You [Triple H] blew it. You didn't make him the better offer, and that's that," said Meltzer. [H/T: WrestleTalk]

Will Ospreay and Triple H have been embroiled in a war of words recently

It all started at The Pat McAfee Show earlier this month, where The Game seemingly referenced Will Ospreay when he said that if someone was not ready for the grind, they had no business working in WWE.

Will Ospreay didn't hold back in his response. During his interview with Renee Paquette on AEW Dynamite, the talented wrestler launched a scathing attack when he seemingly implied that Triple H owed his success in WWE to Stephanie McMahon.

The Aerial Assassin locked horns with Bryan Danielson in an epic one-on-one encounter at AEW Dynasty on Sunday. Ospreay emerged victorious after a magnificent match, which saw both wrestlers bring their A-game to the table.

Ospreay again addressed his beef with The Game at the post-show media scrum. The 30-year-old asserted that even though Paul Levesque didn't mention him, the potshots were aimed at him. The AEW star declared that he didn't regret his comments. Ospreay also added he didn't want to lower his standard by mentioning ''anyone over there.''
