Celtics start off with a brilliant win

The Boston Celtics started off their opening night with a victory over the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics beat the Nets 121-105. This game was crucial for the Celtics because it marked the return of Rajon Rondo who had missed 70 games the previous season due to injury. Boston Celtics victory can be attributed to the fact that, all of their starters scored in double figures with Kelly Olynyk leading the pack with 19 points. For the Nets, it was Mirza Teletovic who came off bench and scored 20 points. The starters for Celtics scored 77 points out of the total 121 points. The bench extended their support with three players scoring in double figures.

Also, the other major aspect of their victory was that, the Celtics forced Brooklyn Nets to commit a total of 20 turnovers and the Celtics went 55.7% from the field. Celtics scored 62 points in the paint out of the 121 points. The Celtics as a unit had 28 assists despite the fact that the Nets had a +4 rebounding advantage over the Celtics. Rajon Rondo was his usual self with 13 points and 12 assists on his comeback game which enabled Boston Celtics win. From the start, the Celtics were on a mission to win by scoring 32 points in the first quarter whereas Brooklyn managed to score 23 points keeping the deficit to single digit.

However in the second quarter, Celtics scored 35 points and restricted Brooklyn which had a 17-1 run towards the end of the first half. Celtics shot 61% from the field in the first half. Brooklyn Nets however had a decent scoring third quarter with 31 points, but Celtics managed to outscore them by scoring 34 points. The Celtics managed to score just 20 points in the fourth quarter which did not hamper their path to victory on their opening night. Both the teams will hit the road on Saturday where the Celtics will be playing the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets will be playing the Detroit Pistons.
