Draymond Green reckons only one player on Suns can shut down Anthony Edwards' offensive explosion

The first-round series between the Phoenix Suns and Minnesota Timberwolves is a matchup that Draymond Green has found interesting. Green talked about the approaches both teams could try in an episode of his podcast, "The Draymond Green Show."

In Game 1 between the two teams, the Wolves dominated. Anthony Edwards led the game with 33 points as he went after Kevin Durant on the offensive end.

Interestingly, Green believes that Durant is the only player who should step up defensively and take on the assignment of guarding Edwards. KD isn't known for his defensive skills, but he's a capable defender who can hold his ground. Given his length and athleticism, Draymond's take on choosing the 6-foot-11 forward as the primary defender for Edwards could be fruitful.

"What the Phoenix Suns are gonna have to do is they're gonna have to play KD on Anthony Edwards the entire series," Green said. "That has to be his matchup.

"What Phoenix has to do is they have to rely on Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Grayson Allen. They're gonna have to rely on those guys to carry the load offensively."

Green shared that having Durant focus on defense would mean the Suns shouldn't expect significant things from the forward offensively. Phoenix has a good number of excellent perimeter defenders in Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neale and Josh Okogie. However, KD's length could be a significant factor on the defensive end.

Game 2 between the Suns and the Wolves will take place tomorrow at Target Center. Phoenix will try and get a win on the road to make it an interesting series.

Draymond Green expects the Wolves to go 2-0 after Game 2

There will be a bunch of games to be played tonight and tomorrow, which are mostly the second game of the first-round series. One of the games that will take place tomorrow is Game 2 between the Wolves and Suns. There are a few who expect Phoenix to try and redeem themselves from losing significantly in Game 1.

However, Draymond Green doesn't think the Suns will even the series in Minnesota. He expects the Wolves to play Game 3 with a 2-0 advantage.

"It's a big game for Minnesota. You do not want to go to Phoenix 1-1," Green said." You want to go to Phoenix 2-0, rolling off Game 1. Maybe you get a big game from Karl-Anthony Towns, as Anthony Edwards said."

Having a 2-0 advantage will dictate the series as it could shift the momentum to the Wolves' advantage. The Suns will try their best to slow down Edwards and capture a win on the road.
