Today's IPL match is the battle of two teams who are attempting to redeem themselves after a poor start to the tournament. The Delhi Daredevils have earned the reputation of being strugglers in the IPL, thanks to forgettable performances in the past few seasons. On the other hand, the Kings XI Punjab have blown hot and cold so far as they were runners-up in 2014 but ended the 2015 season at the bottom of the table. Both teams will be on the lookout to prove their mettle not only to opponents but to their fans as well.

Playing on their home ground, the Delhi side are bound to hold a slight advantage due to their knowledge of the conditions. However, their record at home has not been the best compared to some of the other teams. The DD squad certainly does not lack the firepower required to win matches, but they have been guilty of not being able to put it to good use. The team has an exciting bunch of youngsters in the likes of Quinton de Kock, Shreyas Iyer, Pawan Negi, Sanju Samson and Karun Nair. The Kings XI Punjab boast of a team which is capable of running over any opposition on their day. Their squad is filled with a number of exceptional players who have the ability to win matches single-handedly for the team. The likes of Glenn Maxwell, David Miller, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Marsh and Murali Vijay can all dictate terms to the opponent team. The KXIP side has a good mix of both experience and youth which makes them a formidable unit. However, they would need to fix their issues from the previous edition of the tournament to pose a threat to the other teams.

Delhi Daredevils Squad:

The Delhi Daredevils have a number of concerns going into their 2nd match of the VIVO IPL 2016. The biggest issue for them is the unavailability of their star batsman JP Duminy, who has also established himself as an all-rounder in recent years. Duminy has stood among the ruins for the Daredevils in the past few seasons and has been good with both bat and ball. However, he did not feature in the first game which DD lost to KKR by 9 wickets and is likely to sit out of the KXIP match as well.

The bowling form of skipper Zaheer Khan is another worrying aspect as he conceded 24 in the 2.1 overs he bowled against KKR. If the Daredevils want to make an impact in the match against Kings XI Punjab, Zaheer will have to lead from the front. His new ball partner Nathan Coulter-Nile struggled too and on a dry Kotla pitch, it would be ideal to bring in leggie Imran Tahir in place of the Aussie pacer. The numerous young batsmen in the team will have to cut down on their bravado a little and learn to be more patient before they go for aggressive shots.

The Delhi Daredevils can certainly turn it around for themselves in today's match provided they learn from the mistakes they have been making.

Kings XI Punjab Squad:

The Kings XI Punjab had a decent outing in their match against newcomers Gujarat Lions; however, they fell short in certain aspects and paid the price for it with a 5-wicket loss. While the batting clicked to some extent with openers Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra adding 78 runs at the top, the bowling let them down on a sporting Mohali pitch. The likes of Mitchell Johnson, Mohit Sharma and Axar Patel struggled to get it right and were picked for runs by Aaron Finch & Co. There were a few worries in the batting as well as the deadly duo of Glenn Maxwell and David Miller failed to make an impact.

The Punjab side will be looking to make some changes to the team that played against GL. On a slowish pitch at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, they may be tempted to bring new buy KC Cariappa into action today in place of Pardeep Sahu as a partner for lead spinner Axar Patel. Rishi Dhawan's ability to bowl good cutters combined with his batting prowess may help him score over someone like Mohit Sharma in the battle for a spot in the playing XI. A little more focus on their bowling could help KXIP work out a positive result in today's game.
