Bhvneshwar Kumar excited to play after a long time

Right-arm swing bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, after having a quiet World Cup for India in which he just played one game (against UAE), is raring to go and create an impact on the field for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

"I am excited to play matches after a long time," Bhuvi told Mid-Day. "Although I was in Australia and was part of the training sessions, I didn't play enough matches. The excitement to play a match is different."

Struggling with injury and form at the International stage, he could not make play to his potential in the Test and One Day International (ODI) series in Australia and this led to his exclusion from the playing XI during the World Cup from all matches expect the one game when Mohammed Shami was rested.

Will not compromise on swing to gain pace: Kumar

However, the Uttar Pradesh bowler is not looking to tinker too much with his bowling style.

"I would never compromise on my swing for speed. If anybody tells me to bowl at 140kmph, I would not love to do so because when you bowl at that pace, there are big chances of the ball not swinging enough. Yes, pace was a concern for me in Australia because I was making a comeback from my injury. I am quite happy with my speed which is around 130-135kmph. For me, it is important to be fit and in good rhythm."

Bhuvneshwar had a good outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) last season in which he scalped 20 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad and was the third-highest wicket-taker.

Another bowler who had a good outing in the last edition of the IPL was Sandeep Sharma who took 18 wickets for Kings XI Punjab. Sandeep, who recently got advice from Glenn McGrath, hopes that he can make good use of the tips and improve as bowler, especialy on his economy rate.

"A few days ago, during a team training session in Chennai I had a chance to meet legendary Australian bowler Glenn McGrath," Sandeep told the Indian Express. "He guided us. One of his tips, which I think are crucial for a bowler's future is - You should forget the previous ball as soon as you can; whether it was a six, a four or a wicket, if you carry the impact of previous delivery you'll be bashed. I will remember his advice throughout my career."
