I never asked for Rs 16 crore: Yuvraj Singh

The highest buy of IPL 2015, Yuvraj Singh was bought by Delhi Daredevils at a humongous amount of 16 crore rupees in the 2015 IPL players auction. However, the player believes that there is no pressure on him of that value because he never asked for any amount.

"I never asked for it (Rs 16 crore). It was not in my hands. I was just like any other player in the auction. I would have played in the IPL irrespective of the amount as my priority has always been playing cricket."

The left-handed batsman also commented on his coach Gary Kirsten by saying he puts a lot of confidence in him.

"I have the same relationship with him as it was when he was with the Indian team (when they won the 2011 World Cup). I have a great understanding with him. He gets the best out of me. He always pushes me hard and wants me to win games. That gives me a lot of confidence.

"When Gary was the coach of the Indian team, he had to manage just 15 players. But in the IPL, he has to take care of 25 players and that makes things a bit different. He is a terrific coach and is an asset to the team," Yuvraj said.

Yuvraj Singh announced his arrival in IPL with a gritty half-century knock of 54 runs against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) which included 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. His partnership of 104 runs with Mayank Agarwal made sure that the Delhi franchise wins their first league game of IPL 2015. Speaking about his innings, Yuvraj said that it was a big relief in terms of the team winning a game after 11 straight losses.

"In T20, we don't get much time to settle down. In the last game, however, I had a lot of overs and got some runs against my name. It was important to get those two points.

"It's a big relief in terms of the team winning rather than me getting runs. We had been at the losing end for 11 games or so and hence it was important to get a win. We had been playing well."

Delhi Daredevils are in Visakhapatnam to play Sunrisers Hyderabad today and the 33-year-old will try to continue his last match form to take Delhi home again.
