Stuart Broad suffered a fractured nose after he was hit by a Varun Aaron delivery which sneaked into his helmet

Stuart Broad has suffered a fractured nose after he was hit by a Varun Aaron bouncer on the third day of the 4th Test at Manchester. After hitting Aaron for consecutive sixes after lunch, Broad was injured when trying to repeat the shot. The ball made its way between the grille and the peak of Broad’s helmet, hitting him in the face. (Was Stuart Broad’s helmet responsible for his nasty injury?)

Medical attention was called for immediately and Broad’s bloodied face meant the physio had to do some work on him before he gingerly walked off the ground. He was stitched up in the dressing room and after the tea break, was seen walking near the boundary with a bandaged nose on his way to the hospital.

Despite Broad’s absence, England completed an emphatic win at Manchester, taking a 2-1 lead in the series

The tests at hospital confirmed a fracture and ECB later tweeted the same:

However, the management hopes Broad can get back in shape for the final Test at Old Trafford.

Despite his absence, England completed an emphatic win over India by an innings and 54 runs and Broad was named the Man of the Match for his 6/25 in first innings.

“It was a really nasty blow but hopefully there aren't any cheek fractures,” skipper Alastair Cook said after the match. “We wish him well and hopefully he hasn't ruined his good looks.”

Stuart Broad watched England’s win from the hospital and tweeted:
