Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has rejected the concept of playing with 4 pace bowlers instead of 3.

The Indian spinners have come under some heavy criticism after a lacklustre display in the 1st ODI against New Zealand even though the conditions were not ideal for spin bowling.

Dhoni, who feels playing with 4 pacers will lead to a slow over rate, joked: “Two things happen whenever we play with four fast bowlers, one the captain gets banned, and two we lose. They are not good stats and I want to play in the series.”

“It isn’t an option. I think the spinners bowled pretty well. They didn’t get wickets, but they built pressure which is also important.”

The duo of Jadeja and Ashwin gave away as many as 113 runs and went wicket less, with the former being more expensive.

India, who had won all their matches chasing when Kohli had scored a ton before the first ODI, will have to improve in all the areas according to the skipper.
