F1 News : Button wants more McLaren updates

McLaren Formula 1 Team driver and former world champion Jenson Button has insisted for more updates from the McLaren team. The British driver says that the Silverstone based outfit should push for more updates in the upcoming British Grand Prix so that they can close in some gap on the current leaders Red Bull and Ferrari.

Button didn’t have a good outing at Valencia and he finished the race on 6th place behind Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. Jenson drove lonely race at Valencia and didn’t challenge anyone for any place. In the qualifying also McLaren didn’t able to challenge the Red Bulls and qualified on P3 with Hamilton and on P6 with Jenson Button. Jenson was hit by the KERS problem halfway into the race and was hampered by the issue as well.

Jenson finished the race almost a minute behind the race leader Sebastian Vettel and Hamilton finished 46 behind the race leader. The McLaren duo was so much frustrated by the end result that Hamilton said that the team should take some risk in order to close in some gap on the current leaders Red Bull Racing team. At that time Jenson also said that there is nothing to lose for the team and they should take some risks.

While talking to Sporting Life Jenson said that he will heading to the McLaren Technology Centre on Wednesday so that he could push the planned development of McLaren ahead.

We have to push and hope we get a lot of improvements for the next race. So I’ll be going around tomorrow and seeing what we have. I know some of the things we have, and some of the things we have for the race after. But hopefully we can try and get them for Silverstone.

Button also said that it is not certain how the new rule which is ban on Blown Diffuser will affect the performance of the team at Silverstone. He said that the team needs to make sure that the effect of the off-throttle blown diffuser ban should be at the minimum in the British Grand Prix. He also added that the team ban on blown diffuser will make a big difference for everyone on the grid.

It’s going to be a weird race for everyone given the change in the regulations with the blown diffuser. We have to be wary of that because there will be quite a big difference for all of us. It’s about being ready when you arrive there, understanding which direction you need to take.

FIA has banned off throttle blown diffuser from next weekend’s British Grand Prix and everyone is still wondering how that will make a difference in everyone’s performance.
