McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was born to Chris and Nicole in Australia. However, his cultural background is quite diverse. According to his mother, Oscar has Italian, Chinese, Scottish, and Irish backgrounds.

Speaking on the Red Flags Podcast in 2024, Nicole said:

"So people jump on the Italian because of the 'Piastri,' which is Italian, but he's just as much Chinese as he's Italian. It's a long way back; it's not like...no one was born in Italy. So Chris's grandfather was Italian, and Chris's grandmother, who he was married to, was Chinese."

She added:

"Yeah, people pick up on the Piastri, of course, but he's just as much Chinese. So it's like a long way back. My side is Scottish and Irish. Yeah, that's my side, which he probably doesn't even know about."

That being said, Oscar Piastri is having a career-best season in 2025. Of the nine races so far, he has won and is leading the championship with 186 points. However, the job is far from done, as his McLaren teammate Lando Norris is just 10 points behind at P2.
