Junior career
Oscar Piastri's first foray into European racing was with the British F4 championship where he finished second. After a disappointing first season in Renault Eurocup, Oscar Piastri flipped a switch in 2019 and went on a very impressive three-year run. In 2019, he won the Formula Renault Eurocup by beating Victor Martins to the title. In 2020 he graduated to Formula 3 where he won the title in the last race of the season against Logan Sargeant and Theo Pourchaire. It was however his stint in Formula 2 that made the world take notice of the youngster. He completely dominated his rookie season and beat quite a few seasoned drivers.
Formula 1
With his affiliation to Alpine's junior racing program, Oscar did have a path into F1 but with Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon at the team, the driver had to sit out for the 2022 F1 season. During that time, looking at the indecisive nature at the French squad, Piastri decided to make a move. He was approached by McLaren and the driver decided to make the move. Piastri made his debut in F1 with McLaren in 2023 as Daniel Ricciardo's replacement. He has Lando Norris as his teammate and in the first half of the 2023 F1 season, he has been very impressive.
