Oscar Jack Piastri is an Australian racing driver who competes in Formula One for McLaren. He made his Formula One debut at the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix, racing for McLaren alongside Lando Norris. Piastri joined the Renault Sport Academy in January 2020 and took his first-ever Formula One test with the Renault F1 Team. Piastri, born and raised in Melbourne, started competing nationally with remote-controlled cars and began his karting career in 2011. He later competed in European and other CIK-FIA-affiliated karting championships with Ricky Flynn Motorsport.

Piastri won his first championship title at the 2019 Formula Eurocup with R-ace GP after graduating to junior formulae in 2016. He was selected as a reserve driver for Alpine F1 Team and McLaren for the 2022 Formula One season after winning the Formula 2 title in 2021. Piastri was rumored to drive for Williams in the 2023 season of Formula One on a loan from Alpine. In October 2019, Piastri joined Prema Racing to compete in the FIA Formula 3 championship. He later won the 2020 FIA Formula 3 and the 2021 FIA Formula 2 championship titles with Prema Racing and became the sixth driver in history to win the Formula 2/GP2 title in their rookie season, which improved his chances and promoted him to be selected and drive in a Formula One car.
