Red Bull Christian Horner opines why the gap to the chasing pack appears to have increased since Ferrari's victory in Melbourne

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner claimed that the Austrian team's pace advantage over other teams in the last two races was down to the circuit specifications.

After a blip in Melbourne, the world champions returned to their dominant best in Japan and China as Max Verstappen comfortably overpowered the rest of the grid. The Dutch driver won both main races and the Sprint in Shanghai by a margin of over 12 seconds, never giving the chasing pack any opportunity to challenge him.

Speaking to the media, including Sportskeeda, the Red Bull team boss mentioned that he believed that the recent dominance was track-specific and there are still some unknowns about the RB20. He said:

"I think it's probably track-specific 'cause it may well be we go to the next race at Konstantinos again and then we'll probably do that. We've not raced in really hot temperatures yet or anything like that.
"So there's still an awful lot of variables but across the different circuits that we've had, RB20 is delivering. And, you know, drivers, particularly Max, is doing an outstanding job."

Red Bull team boss talks about the 'phenomenal' weekend for the world champions

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner hailed the Chinese GP as a 'phenomenal' weekend for the team as they topped every single competitive session and never looked challenged for the race win.

Speaking with F1.com, Horner said:

"It was a phenomenal weekend for the Team, 117 wins and 15 years since our first victory here marks a very big moment for us and one I am very proud of on a personal level. Max has just been fantastic, all season long, and again with Checo on the podium sums up a great all-round performance."
"We were a little unlucky with the safety car which played into Lando and Charles's favor, but that's the way it goes sometimes. So they got a free stop and were able to jump Checo on track. He managed to pass Charles but unfortunately, he didn’t have enough to catch Lando."

Red Bull have won four out of the five races and a Sprint in the 2024 season and leads the Constructor's Championship from Ferrari by 44 points, having scored 195 points to the Italian team's 151.

It would need some drastic changes from the rest of the grid to match the performance of the Austrian team and have a chance of winning another race in the coming races.
