"Can't imagine Pep Guardiola joining a club like Manchester City," says Bayern chairman

Pep Guardiola set to stay a Bayern Munich according to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he doesn’t believe Pep Guardiola is going to leave the club, and even if he does, it won't be to “a club like Manchester City.” Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world at the moment and is wanted by several clubs, but Manchester City’s powerbrokers Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, both want Guardiola as the first choice replacement for current manager Manuel Pellegrini.

When Bayern doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller Wohlfahrt, who had worked with the club for 38 years left the club after supposedly falling out with Guardiola, there was a huge debate whether the Spaniard would stay at the Allianz Arena or would seek out a new challenge.

But following the event of the recent 6-1 victory over Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals, Rummenigge felt that a move to a club like City would be a step down for Pep.

"I don't worry about the rumour," Rummenigge told German agency Bild:. "It's just proof of his quality. But I can't imagine that Guardiola leaves for a club like Manchester City. I am sure that he will be team manager at Bayern at least until June 30, 2016."

"We are very proud that this coach is our man. He is the best and most sought-after coach in the world. He has satisfied all our expectations. We have a plan: We will bring this season to an end and then talk in the second half of 2015," he added.

"Our goal is to extend his contract. And I think we have good chances that he will still be our coach beyond 2016."
