Chelsea news: Guus Hiddink disapproves of Eden Hazard's half-time shirt swap with Angel Di Maria

Hazard once again in the midst of controversy

Chelsea Manager Guus Hiddink was not very pleased with Eden Hazard’s decision to swap his shirt with Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria. The Blues’ winger put in another disappointing performance yesterday as his side were knocked out of the Champions League by the French giants.

Chelsea were level at half-time when Hazard decided to exchange his jersey with his PSG counterpart. The Stamford Bridge faithful disapproved of his actions with resounding boos directed towards the Belgian.

Hiddink was also not impressed by Hazard’s decision. “I'm aware. It should not be done” said the manager. The manager though, understood that this might have been the culture in other countries saying,” But in some countries it's usual that you do it [at half-time] and not after the game. Maybe they're both used to doing that.”

But the 69-year-old was swift to dismiss the issue being a serious one saying, “Don’t overvalue this issue Yes, they had the right to do what they think. You can express always your feelings.”

Chelsea fail PSG test again

Chelsea suffered a defeat at the hands of their French opponents for the second year running. The Blues lost to the French champions last year during the same stage as 10-man PSG went through on the away goals rule in a dramatic game.

Hiddink felt the Blues were pushing for the win but were caught on the break saying, “Second half we pushed, we tried to get 2-1 [ahead], We were on the edge around 65th minute to score. We didn't do so, and they had an attack and killed the game at that moment.”

Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season looks to be all but over because of their mid-table position in the Premier League. Winning the Champions League was probably their best chance to qualify for the competition next season.

Manchester City the English side with the best chance to progress

The only two English teams that remain in the competition are Arsenal and Manchester City. Both clubs will be in action next week. Arsenal face the daunting task of playing Barcelona at the Nou Camp next Wednesday.

The Gunners lost their home leg 2-0 with a Messi brace giving the Spanish side an advantage in the tie. Several critics have written off Arsenal’s chances considering no side has ever overturned a two-goal deficit in the 2nd leg of a Champions League tie

This leaves Manchester City as the English team with the best chance to progress further in the competition. The Sky Blues won their away leg against Dynamo Kiev by a score line of 3-1 and are expected to go through to the quarter-finals without any hiccups when they face the Ukrainians at the Etihad
