The Madrid derby will be keenly contested

Cristiano Ronaldo took a dig at Real Madrid’s Champions League final opponents, Atletico Madrid, calling them one-dimensional. Atletico Madrid have been extremely impressive in the Champions League this season, securing hard-fought victories over Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

Ronaldo who scored in the 2014 final is determined to help Real Madrid overcome Atletico Madrid again. Speaking to reporters, he said:

"We will see who is the best but I am positive. I think Real are better than Atletico, we just have to show it on the pitch."

"Atletico always play the same way," he said.

"We know there will be very few opportunities because they all play behind the ball.

"It is no coincidence that Barca and Bayern couldn't score many goals against them."

Ronaldo is also eyeing yet another goalscoring record, sitting just a single goal shy of his own 17-goal Champions League record of two seasons ago.

"It would be nice to equal or even pass the record, but I am not obsessed with that because the most important thing is to win the title."

Cristiano Ronaldo – I do not care about Barcelona

Cristiano Ronaldo has gone on to say that he doesn’t care about anything that happens at Barcelona and is only worried about Real Madrid. Los Blancos are due to contest in the Champions League final on Saturday in Milan against bitter rivals Atletico Madrid and Ronaldo has been instrumental in his side’s road to the final scoring 16 goals in just 11 games including three hat-tricks, a record in a single season.

When asked about his thoughts on the Catalans, Cristiano said, “I don't care about anything to do with Barcelona. I only care about Real Madrid.”

The Portuguese suffered a collision in training on Tuesday and was seen limping out of the ground, leaving the entire fan base of Madrid to pray that their star player is fine. The 31-year-old though calmed any fears of him having an injury and said he would be fine for the final.

Speaking to the media he said, “I had a small injury problem during the season, but that's normal when you play over 4000 minutes - more than anyone else in the squad. I feel ready and I will be at my best level for the game of our lives.”
