Cristiano Ronaldo limps out of Real Madrid training session

Ronaldo limped out of the Real Madrid training session

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo is the star man for Real Madrid in the build-up to the UEFA Champions League final but could possibly miss out on the game after limping out of training this morning. The Real Madrid forward also has failed to complete the last three training sessions with Real Madrid as per the Mirror.

The Portuguese star has been struggling to recover from injury since limping off the field against Villarreal last month. He also missed out on a training game on Saturday as the technical staff wanted to keep him niggle free at all costs before the big match. Ronaldo had not managed to complete the La Liga game against Deportivo La Coruna either.

Ronaldo was taking part in a training exercise when he was pushed into the back of goalkeeper Kiko Casilla by full-back Dani Carvajal. The winger was seen trying to stretch his left thigh after the collision and left training after consultations with the Real Madrid backroom staff.

Ronaldo could likely miss out on what would be his third appearance in the finals of the Champions League. There was a possibility that he could break his own record of scoring 17 goals in a Champions League season as he has scored 16 goals in this season’s tournament too.

Real face Atletico in all-Madrid Champions League final

The forward has won the Champions League earlier in 2008 with Manchester United and in 2014 against Atletico Madrid. He scored in both finals and could become the first player to score in three Champions League finals if he is declared fit for the final on Sunday.

Missing out on the pace and power of Ronaldo would be a huge setback for Real Madrid as they prepare to face crosstown rivals Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on Sunday. Atletico’s defence is famously stubborn and Real Madrid would need all their star players to ensure victory.

The Champions League final will be a repeat of the 2014 edition. Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will be looking to become only the seventh manager in football history to win the Champions League as a player and manager. The Frenchman missed out on the La Liga title on the last day of the season as Barcelona pipped them by a single point.
