What's the story?

A Juventus fan, who was left bloodied after she was hit in the face by a wild shot from Cristiano Ronaldo before the clash against Chievo Verona, was taken by surprise when the Portuguese ace asked her to attend a club training session.

In case you didn't know...

Juventus went head-to-head with Chievo Verona earlier this month in a game that saw the table-toppers extend their lead at the top of the Serie A with a 3-0 win.

Douglas Costa, Emre Can and Cristiano Ronaldo all found the net to establish a double-digit lead in the Italian league.

Prior to the game, however, a Bianconeri supporter named Elene Di Martino was left with an injury when the players were warming up.

During the warm-up, a wild shot by Ronaldo flew into the stands and hit Di Martino in the face, injuring her nose and breaking her glasses in the process.

The heart of the matter

After the game, Di Martino jokingly said that she expected a dinner from the 33-year-old star to make up for the injury.

She told Corriere dell Serra, "Cristiano is an idol for me and after that hit I expect him to invite me to dinner at least."

While she may not have gotten a dinner, the fan was invited to a club training session by the Portuguese and was given a signed shirt as a form of apology.

Di Martino shared a photograph of the shirt on Facebook with a caption that translates to "My gift for the wild shot. He [Ronaldo] is a champion on and off the pitch." The writing on the shirt read, "For Elena, a hug - Cristiano".

What's next?

Despite crashing out of the Coppa Italia last night, Juventus still sit eleven points clear at the top of the Serie A table and is next scheduled to face Parma in the league on Saturday.
