Diego Costa is happy at Chelsea says Jose Mourinho

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has discarded the rumours surrounding Diego Costa, who is reported to be homesick and wants to go back to his former stomping grounds, Atletico Madrid. Media reports suggested that he had already made contact with the Madrid club.

Mourinho though quashed the rumours by saying, “he's the happiest guy in the dressing room, so if this is unhappiness, I'm happy with that.” The Chelsea manager was speaking to the media after their post-season 1-0 win against Sydney FC in the friendly in Australia. Costa was also part of the team and played nearly 40 minutes in the win.

The player himself, in an interview to Chelsea TV, said that all the rumours linking him with a move back to Atletico are false and just speculation, saying, “[It is] quite a simple answer. It’s always a bit more difficult in the first season for adaptation, but I have no reason to leave this place, I love it, the fans love me and I want to stay.”

Costa was signed from Atletico Madrid for £32 million last summer. He had a mixed first season at Chelsea where he had a trailblazing start, but could not sustain it due to repeated injuries. Still, he played a major role in Chelsea’s title triumph with an impressive tally of 20 goals.
