Atletico Madrid take on Bayern Munich in the crucial second leg of their Champions League semi-final and ahead of the big match, the Spaniard heaped praise on their German opposition. Torres also spoke about how the whole team stood together.

"The most important thing is that we know who we are," he explained.

"We are nothing if we are not a team. As a team we can beat anyone.

"We are the team that concedes few goals in Europe. We have also been scoring almost in every game from mid-season to now.

"We will play to win. We will give everything to fulfil our dream.

"We want to keep being a team and this is our mentality. We die for each other and every game is a battle. Bayern are probably the best team we have faced this season."

Torres who has already faced both Barcelona and Real Madrid this season surprisingly picked Bayern as the toughest team they have played against. Atletico will be quietly confident of progressing to the finals after they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg.

Winning the Champions League with Atletico will be greater than World Cup triumph

Spain and Atletico Madrid striker, Fernando Torres said that winning the Champions League would be the greatest achievement of his career. He insists that Atletico can complete a historic double by winning both, the La Liga and the Champions League this season.

The World Cup, Euro and Champions League winner said, “I feel very fortunate to have played in great teams, have unbelievable nights and trophies with Spain. But for me, personally, nothing could compare to doing it with Atleti."

The Spain international seemed determined to help Atletico write a new chapter in their history books, “What we want to do is write new history. Hopefully, in a week's time we can say we have taken another step towards it” he said.

The Spaniard was playing for Chelsea when the Los Rojiblancos reached the Champions League finals in 2014. He even scored for Chelsea in a 3-1 overall loss in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. However, after a frustrating three-year spell at Chelsea, Torres returned to his boyhood club in 2015.

El Nino is absolutely loved by the fans at Atletico and he will be looking to make a crucial contribution in tonight’s big match against Bayern Munich.
