Frank Lampard’s 85th minute equaliser against former club Chelsea was a landmark goal as it helped the veteran midfielder break Andy Cole’s long standing record of scoring against the most Premier league clubs.

The 36-year-old was tied with Cole on 38 before the match. This record is astounding when you consider that only 46 teams have participated in the Premier league till now.

Out of these only 44 clubs have been in the top tier during his career.

The former West Ham man was not offered a new contract by the London club and signed for MLS side New York City FC. However, he joined the Manchester club on loan till January to keep himself fit till the new season in the USA begins.

He had previously explained how he would have stayed at the club had he been offered a new contract.

“I had a chat with Jose Mourinho and both he and the club were always great with me. The decision was made – and I don’t know who made it.”

Here is the goal he scored:

The only clubs against whom Lampard has not scored are Swindon Town, Oldham Athletic (never faced), Ipswich Town, Watford, Cardiff City, Burnley and QPR.

The on-loan Manchester City player could theoretically score against QPR and Burnley to take his tally to 41.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho couldn’t hide his displeasure.

"Frank Lampard is a Man City player," Mourinho said

"When he decided to go to a direct competitor then love stories are over."

The Portuguese coach added: "I don't believe in stories of passion and heart, maybe I am too pragmatic in football. He did his job as a professional."
