Infographic: EPL table if only English goal-scorers were counted

Premier League table with just English players

How would the Premier League table look if only goals from English players counted? With the volume of foreign players now in the Premier League it’s a question that gets asked alarmingly frequently and we’ve trawled through every single Premier League score to find out exactly who would come out on top. The answer is not too dissimilar from an idea being bandied about from several commentators right now…

Liverpool assert their dominance on the Premier League thanks to the goals of Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard, Raheem Sterling and in-form Jordan Henderson. The Reds have a staggering 13 point lead on the chasing pack.

Other teams who do well are Southampton and Sunderland. Southampton don’t come as a massive surprise given their recent influx of English talent into the national team but Sunderland offer a surprise thanks to the congested lower half of the table.

The biggest losers are unsurprisingly Manchester City and Newcastle, both teams have very few English players in any position but the fact that the Sky Blues drop 14 places is still flabbergasting.
