Inter Milan confirm signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia from AS Monaco

Inter Milan have beaten AC Milan to the signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia

Inter Milan have signed defensive-midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia from AS Monaco for a fee of around £25m. The former Sevilla player will join Roberto Mancini’s side on a 5-year contract, with the player set to have a medical at the club, as confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account.

AC Milan was destined to be Kondogbia’s new club before Inter Milan stepped in at the last moment.

“Monaco had given us the all-clear for the sale at €40m with payment spread over two years, €20m and €20m. The agreement with Geoffrey had already been sorted out the night before and was confirmed that same morning by him and his father,” Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani told La Gazzetta dello Sport,

“After we exchanged the documentation ... everyone disappeared. Evidently they changed their minds or the others offered more.”

France international Geoffrey Kondogbia joined AS Monaco from La Liga side Sevilla in the summer of 2013, going on to make a total of 63 appearances for the club, scoring 4 goals in the process. The versatile midfielder was linked with a host of top sides in Europe apart from the San Siro clubs after producing some eye-catching displays for Monaco in the Champions League last season.

Kondogbia is one of the many new signings that are expected at Inter Milan, as Roberto Mancini goes about rebuilding his side and return the Nerazzurri to its glory days.
