With recent acquisitions, Manchester United have the most expensive squad in the EPL

After a number of signings this summer, Manchester United now have the most expensive squad ever in the Premier League.

The Red Devils had earlier signed Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marco Rojo – a combined fee of £72m.

And with the recent purchase of Angel Di Maria for £59.7m, they have spent approximately £132m so far in the transfer window. They had already spent £37.1m on Juan Mata in January.

All these acquisitions mean that United’s squad now costs £401.2m – much more than their immediate rivals Manchester City, who have often been accused in the past of spending a lot of money to assemble their squad.

Manchester City themselves spent close to £368m to assemble their title winning squad last season. their current squad is currently worth about £344m.

Chelsea are third after singing La Liga stars Cesc Fabregas ans Diego Costa this summer and their current squad cost almost £342m.

With four days left in the summer transfer window, it remains to be seen if the order of this list will change come 23:00 on September 1 – transfer deadline day.

This list does not take into account the player sales. It only counts the transfer fee paid for all the players in the squad and not net spending.
