Erling Haaland posts message on X after Man City's UCL elimination.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland took to social media to express himself following his team's defeat against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

City and Real drew the first leg 3-3 and the second leg ended 1-1 after extra time. This saw the teams battle it out on penalties, with Los Blancos emerging 4-3 victors in the shoot-out.

Erling Haaland took to his X (Twitter) account after the game and posted the following message:

"It's difficult to leave the #UCL this way but I couldn't be prouder of the team, we left our heats out there and fought till the end. We still have other goals to achieve, starting this weekend, so let's do this. Thank you as ever for the support."

Despite Manchester City scoring four goals against Real Madrid over two legs, Erling Haaland was unable to get in on the action. He had just one shot on target in the first leg and misfired even more in the second. The Norwegian's headed attempt onto the crossbar was also arguably his team's best chance in the second leg.

However, a lack of support from Haaland's teammates and an overall solid defensive performance by Real Madrid saw the defending champions being eliminated. They are two points clear at the top in the Premier League with 73 points, two ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool on 71 points.

De Bruyne's stellar record for Manchester City in the UCL

As he does during most big games and big occasions, Kevin De Bruyne stepped up for his team on the big stage once again last night. With Manchester City down 4-3 on aggregate after Rodrygo's first half goal, they desperately needed an equalizer to keep the tie alive.

Enter, Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian maestro scored with a thumping effort in the 76th minute, adding to his vast array of clutch goals for City.

In the knockout phase of the UCL so far, De Bruyne has scored 12 non-penalty goals for Manchester City, along with an impressive 13 assists. He has played just over 30 full 90-minute games in the knockouts as well.

These numbers are a testament to the Belgian's abilities. Having missed the first half of the season due to a hamstring injury, he has made a total of just 18 appearances across competitions, scoring five and assisting 14 goals so far.
