Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who has been without a team since his departure from Old Trafford last summer, is being eyed by Real Betis, as reported by Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish club has identified the 33-year-old goalkeeper as a potential replacement with Claudio Bravo set to exit the club.

David de Gea reportedly received several offers after he left United at the end of the 2022-23 season. However, he did not accept any of the proposals.

Barcelona, who are in the midst of a severe financial crisis, had also reportedly made a move for the Spaniard to bolster their goalkeeping options but were unable to strike a deal.

David de Gea made 545 appearances for Manchester United, conceding 590 goals. The Spaniard kept 190 clean sheets for the Red Devils.

United signed André Onana from Inter Milan to replace David de Gea. Manager Erik ten Hag had previously worked with Onana at Eredivisie giants Ajax.

The Cameroonian has had a bittersweet start to his career with The Red Devils. In 32 Premier League appearances for the club, he has managed eight clean sheets and conceded 48 goals.

As for Real Betis, they're currently seventh on the La Liga points table and have managed only two wins in their last five league games.

Manchester United reach final of the FA Cup

Erik ten Hag's men reached the final of the FA Cup, albeit by the narrowest of margins, after defeating Championship team Coventry in the semi-final on Sunday, April 21.

The Red Devils had scored three goals by the hour mark and looked in pole position to comfortably qualify for the final. However, to their dismay, they witnessed an unbelievable comeback, conceding three goals in 20 minutes.

Manchester United came pretty close to heartbreak before Victor Torp's goal was ruled offside by the slimmest of margins in the 119th minute as the match went to penalties.

They found themselves in yet another sticky situation as Casemiro, who was tasked with taking the first penalty, struck it straight at the goalkeeper. However, United came back into the game, scored their remaining penalties, and defeated Coventry 4-2 to book a place in the final.

They'll face arch-rivals Manchester City in the final, who claimed their spot after defeating Chelsea 1-0. The match will be played on May 25 at the Wembley Stadium in London.

Manchester United return to Premier League action on April 24 when they take on Sheffield United.
