French football club Paris Saint Germain's Thiago Motta is eyeing a move back to Spain. The former FC Barcelona midfielder on Sunday said that he was interested in a move to Atletico Madrid, reports Xinhua.

"I want to leave PSG. My intention is to leave the club,” Motta said. “I've always been honest with the bosses at the club and I've now confirmed my ambition. They know I need other motivations to continue to keep playing at the highest level in my career."

The Brazil-born Italian international also added that he would be speaking to club owner Nasser Al Khelaifi about the matter.

"I will talk to Nasser Al Khelaifi and together we'll find a solution that's good for everyone. I understand PSG's position, but I'd like them to understand mine. I've spoken to the coach; he understands my feelings. It's not up to me, in the end it will be Nasser," Motta said.

The 32-year-old also made clear where his next destination would be stating that he had unfinished business at Atletico Madrid after injury problems restricted him to just six appearances during his earlier spell with the Spanish club in the 2007/08 season.

"We're talking about Atletico Madrid. It's a club where I couldn't give it all I wanted, something that only happened to me at that club. For me, it would be a great challenge," Motta said.

The 2013/14 La Liga champions have already signed central defender Stefan Savic as well as strikers Luciano Vietto, Jackson Martinez and Yannick Carrasco while midfielder Mario Suarez has left the club.
