The Footy Mumble: Lights out for Terry, WAG alert!

Terry retires

John Terry has finally retired from international football after deciding not to fight the FA charge of racial abuse against Anton Ferdinand.

He was cleared of those charges by a judicial magistrate in July, but the FA has started its own investigation, with the first hearing scheduled later today.

His national team-mates have been shocked, not because they were better with him on the pitch, but they just felt a lot more secure about their WAGs!

Imagine their terror when he retires full-time!

Casillas the mole!

After weeks and weeks of digging , it seems everyone is losing it when it comes to the Cristiano Ronaldo ‘sadness’ saga.

And Digital Confidential (a website so far unheard of) has just exemplified this by claiming that Iker Casillas is a mole in the Real Madrid team!

How? Iker’s girlfriend Sara Carbonero happens to be a journalist. And the publication claims Ronaldo feels the dressing room privacy has been lost as Casillas leaks all news to his girlfriend.

Or maybe, as we at the Mumble think, Carbonero just refused to share her beauty secrets with the infamously vain Portuguese forward!

Mancini wants Arsene moaning to stop

City manager Roberto Mancini has called for Arsene Wenger to stop moaning about City’s spending power and focus on the team instead.

Wenger had criticized City’s £400 million deal with Etihad, as it was a ‘mockery’ of Financial Fair Play, and Mancini claimed other teams had spent big on players before, including Arsenal.

That’s the difference, Mr.Mancini. Arsenal, United and others spend on big players. City, on the other hand, spend big on smaller players. Remember Santa Cruz, Kolo Toure, Adam Johnson, etc?

Hell, we could have another Premier League team filled just with these City misfits.

And the Oscar goes to…

It may have been a weekend full of high profile clashes, what with Manchester United taking on Liverpool and City taking on Arsenal, but it was the individual ‘acts’ that stole the thunder definitely.

First up was the Brazilian midfielder Oscar and then Ivanovic, for Chelsea, who threw themselves down, a long way away from Stoke defenders, to win a penalty. Oscar was gifted a yellow card instead.

Following it up was Suarez and Valencia in their clash on Sunday.

Suarez put up his usual theatrical display, going down when miles away from the ball. No wonder he didn’t get the penalty later in the match for an actual foul.

One who did win a penalty was Valencia, going down in the box before any contact was made with Glen Johnson. And no surprise that he walks away as the best ‘actor’ this weekend.

Walk out or lights out

Protests were the highlight of the La Liga and the Bundesliga this weekend with fans protesting ticket price rise, albeit in different ways.

Borussia Dortmund fans walked out of the stadium after the match began. And not just a handful, but an entire stand filled with 1000 supporters.

Rayo Vallecano fans seemed to have been in two minds- miss the match or buy the pricey tickets.

In the end, they decided they would do neither, by getting the match cancelled! Not by rioting but by merely cutting the power lines to the stadium’s floodlights.

That really sends out a message doesn’t it? The power lies with the people!
