The platform of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi (PKL) has given birth to a lot of stars and some potential superstars. Patna Pirates’ raider Pardeep Narwal is one who has seen stardom at a very young age and that is largely due to his exploits in the tournament. He is the youngest player to win the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award after he won the coveted award at the recently concluded Season 4.

Robust, ferocious and dominating on the mat, Pardeep is the exact opposite of it. Want to know more about him?

Here are ten things about the MVP from Season 4:

#1 Pardeep Narwal belongs to a village in Sonepat, Haryana, which is a hotbed of Indian Kabaddi, constantly churning out talent on a regular basis. He comes from a typical Haryanvi family and his father is a farmer. His younger brother plays Kabaddi as well and is an all-rounder.

#2 The youngster from Haryana was a mere 10 years old when he played his first game of Kabaddi. The moment which inspired him to take up the sport was when he saw Rakesh Kumar play for India in the 2006 Asian Games on TV.

#3 Despite being just 19 years old, Pardeep Narwal has made a name for himself in the world of PKL. He, however, is yet to fulfill his dream – which is representing India at the Asian Games, as he saw others do.

#4 Pardeep Narwal is known for his trademark move called “dubki,” which is a cross between a duck and a dive to avoid a defender. A brilliant exponent of the dubki, Pardeep thinks that it comes to him naturally and does not remember when he did it for the first time.

#5 The Patna Pirates star has played 26 Pro Kabaddi matches in Season 5, and scored 369 points, out of which 256 have come from raids. He knows how to channel his aggressive nature, exemplified by the fact that he has only been shown one green card in his entire PKL career.

#6 Pardeep Narwal became the first Kabaddi player to register 300 points in a single season, in PKL 5. He holds the record for scoring the highest points in a match, having scored 34 points against Haryana Steelers in Season 5.

#7 Pardeep does not like a lot of complications in life and lives quite simply. A vegetarian, the 19-year-old loves to eat what his mom cooks, especially the sweet dish “kheer”.

#8 Interestingly, PKL’s top scorer Rahul Chaudhari has asked Pardeep to teach him the ‘dubki’ on plenty of occasions. He says that he has agreed to the Telugu Titans captain’s request, but only if Rahul helps him become a better speaker with the media.

#9 Outside the Kabaddi mat, Pardeep reveals that he is a big movie buff, with maverick actor Salman Khan being his favourite. He loved watching Salman’s latest film ‘Sultan’ and also expressed his desire to meet him one day.

#10 Effortless but extremely fit, Pardeep does not like training and going to the gym much. He loves sleeping and exercises whenever possible. Narwal feels his body is naturally athletic and fit.
