Demetrious Johnson already had a list of accomplishments that could stand up to anyone else's in the history of MMA, but at ONE on Prime Video 1, he added a new notch at the top of the list.

'Mighty Mouse' suffered his first knockout loss in his first meeting with ONE flyweight world champion Adriano Moraes.

In August of 2022, he looked for revenge and found it on the end of a flying knee as he soared through the air in the fourth round to land a walk-off knockout.

Johnson recently appeared on The MMA Hour when he spoke about his plan to try and finish Moraes and how he was forced to adapt his approach.

The flyweight champion reflected on how Moraes' movement forced him to try the knee rather than attempting to tee off on his opponent with a rapid-fire combination:

"When I fought Adriano, I wanted to get into that position to where I can land a five-piece combination. [But my coach] goes, 'You can't do that'. He was like, 'Because he's just gonna run. He's gonna run.' So that's why when I hit him, and he fell, I hit him with the knee. I just couldn't get the five-piece combination."

The flying knee says everything you need to know about Demetrious Johnson

The flying knee finish over Adriano Moraes isn't just the best knockout of his entire career, it says a lot about Demetrious Johnson as a fighter.

'Mighty Mouse' has never been the biggest or most powerful fighter in his weight class but he makes up for that with speed, technique and impeccable timing.

All three elements combined in that moment at ONE on Prime Video 1 where after a perfect right hand that hurt his opponent, he set him up perfectly for the flying knee and landed it flawlessly.

The decision to pull the trigger on this strike is one thing but to land it and finish the fight shows the sheer brilliance of Demetrious Johsnon that we may never see replicated.
