Insider hints at Bill Belichick's motivation of sticking it to the Krafts for interest in Jerry Jones' Cowboys

Bill Belichick may not be coaching the New England Patriots in 2024. But he's hopeful of landing a coaching gig next year among the teams of his interest, the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants.

ESPN reported on Wednesday that the six-time Super Bowl winning coach is biding his time until January in hopes of an opening.

On Outside the Lines on ESPN, Don Van Natt Jr. mentioned that Belichick's interest in the Cowboys comes from his close relationship with Jerry Jones.

He also mentioned that Belichick's ultimate motivation in coaching the America's team would be a way of sticking to the Krafts.

"The big reason is the fact that Bill Belichick and Jerry Jones really like each other. They have been very close since the 1990s. Jerry Jones, as we all know, has not been to a title game in nearly 30 years.
"He's got a win now mentality. And we also had some reporting that Belichick is interested in the Cowboys because he sees if he gets that head coaching job, it would be a way to stick it to the Krafts."

Robert Kraft was influential in Bill Belichick going jobless in 2024

The New England Patriots parted ways with Bill Belichick after the 2023 NFL season. Soon after his exit, there were reports of the Falcons' serious interest in Belichick.

For a while, it looked like the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach was headed to Atlanta until the franchise hired Raheem Morris, in a curve ball move.

According to Seth Wickersham's bombshell report on Wednesday, Arthur Blank's conversation with Robert Kraft was the primary reason for the Falcons not hiring Bill Belichick.

"In a conversation with Blank, Kraft delivered a stark assessment of Belichick's character, according to a source who spoke to two people: a close Kraft friend and a longtime Belichick confidant. The source quoted the Belichick source as saying, "Robert called Arthur to warn him not to trust Bill." That account was backed up, the source said, by the close Kraft friend.
"Multiple sources said that Kraft spoke with "some candor" to Blank about Belichick, though the sources declined to elaborate. One source close to Belichick said Kraft "was a big part" of why the Falcons passed on hiring him."

ESPN reported that a Falcons spokesperson "declined to comment" on whether Kraft was critical of Belichick to Blank in the interview process.
