5 Reason that are holding Sting back from joining WWE

Ever since WCW folded after losing in the Monday night wars, the WWE fans were eager to see the big names from WCW making it in their favorite promotion. Almost all the wrestler did so but one name that eluded the whole time was Sting.WWE fans always drool when they hear the name and though it has cooled down a bit recently, Sting is still considered as a great wish as far as the fans are concerned. And though the rumors are strong as always regarding Sting joining the WWE, there are certain factors which might be working against that happening. So here is a look at some of the reasons which might be holding back.

#5 He might be waiting to join Global Force Wrestling

It’s a long shot but Sting and Jeff Jarrett has a great relationship which could end up in Sting joining Jarrett’s new promotion.

After WCW ended, Sting decided to go to TNA and help the company grow. Jarrett was very instrumental in bringing Sting to TNA as well. Jarrett is on an international scouting mission for his new promotion now and Sting could be a big deal if Jarrett manages it.

Sting will be getting more importance in GFW than he will get in WWE and he could even get an attractive contract as well instead of WWE’s deal which could well be a legends deal.

Sting might be waiting for the companies to stand up and start running which pretty much a good explanation for him not signing with WWE.

#4 He doesnt want to spoil his legacy

At this time, the wrestling fans see Sting as a wrestler who withstood the temptations and stood strong in his principals.

Sting wasn’t hesitant to admit that he doesn’t like the WWE and he has stayed away from the promotion even after he was approached with many big offers.

So maybe Sting wants to end his career as the guy who never surrendered to Vince McMahon who always knows how to get the business done. It might be a big boost to the ego of Sting as well.

He could thus end up as a great respected figure in the business that wasn’t willing to let his legacy slip away in the name of some fat paychecks.

#3 The Creative direction that he will be given

One major concern for Sting when it comes to joining WWE will be the direction that he will be presented with.

Sting is just a long way from his prime and his age is really catching up on him. He will most likely end up being a part timer at the company. And WWE doesn’t do such a good job when it comes to booking part timers with Batista being the prime example.

Sting could end up getting big wins which the fans would not like to see. And he might be also aware of this fact that the fans are not going to buy him beating a much younger superstar.

A off screen role will be the next option for him but then again, the fans didn’t wait all this time to see Sting come and endorse the WWE Network.

#2 Sting will not have the power like he had in TNA

Back when Sting joined TNA, it was a small promotion. And him being an established star, Sting enjoyed all the luxuries that he could get in a promotion.

He had the power to decide the creative direction of his character and even might’ve had the power to choose which days to work on.

But when one wrestler joins the WWE, no matter how big he is, he has to follow the rules set by the company. Sting will not have the powers that he enjoyed back in TNA and will have to be just like everyone else in the company.

He will be just following the guidelines and working rather than being a central figure around which the company is built up.

#1 The ending of the Streak

To be frank, the biggest attraction that every fan had about Sting joining the WWE was the prospect of him facing off against Undertaker at WrestleMania.

It is a dream match for every wrestling fan but it has lost its entire aura after Undertaker lost out to Paul Heyman’s client in April. It was a nail in the coffin of expectation for many fans as they are sure about not seeing the two fighting for the streak again.

With Taker’s streak gone, a match between Sting and Taker will just be two old men exchanging punches at WrestleMania, and if WWE decides to throw it in any other pay-per-view, then also there will be a conflict of who will lose the match.

Sting would’ve been happy to fall if it was for extending Taker’s streak, but WWE no longer have that card to play.

So the decision to end the Undertaker’s streak was quite arguably the thing which is holding Sting away from the WWE and hopefully WWE might find out a way through all this mess to get him aboard.
