5 Reasons why Evolution vs. Shield at Extreme Rules will be best for business

The WWE fans were swept with nostalgia on the April 14th edition of Raw as they witnessed the return of one of the best heel factions that ever set foot in the squared circle.A reformed Evolution wasted no time in making a big impact and took out the Shield. The hounds of justice were no match (albeit after their 11-on-3 match) for the seasoned veterans and took a great beating as Raw went off air. From the looks of it, we may be headed for a clash between the two stables at Extreme Rules which is sure to spark some fireworks. And on various grounds, booking Evolution against Shield is the best decision for business, here's why:

#5 Increases the credibility of both Batista and Randy Orton

Ever since his return, Batista hasn't been very well received by fans. Up until Wrestlemania, his title contention was really not going good. He gained some form of respect after a good show at WrestleMania and the same applies for Randy Orton as well.

And now that they can't repeat the triple threat angle and let Bryan make them look good, something had to be done to keep the duo credible.

WWE chose the right path by pairing them and rebooting the Evolution, as this lets Orton and Batista feature regularly at the top and will also be able to attract hate from the fans for being heels.

Being in the pack will hide the flaws well and could set up the foundation for the longer run.

#4 A match worth watching

This is the obvious reason to be frank. Anything involving the Shield these days is bound to be good stuff and adding in three big names only raises the bar.

As mentioned earlier, Orton and Batista stepped up at WrestleMania and gave everything they had to make sure that the match didn’t look stale. And this showed how seasoned these guys are no matter how we jeer them.

Triple H also showed his technical side at WrestleMania. The Shield on the other hand has Seth Rollins who flourishes inside the ring. Dean Ambrose brings in the psycology while Roman Reigns who brings the power and gets the crowd into it.

And when these two forces meet, we might have a match of the year contender at Extreme Rules.

#3 It gives Daniel Bryan new options

The angle between Daniel Bryan and the Authority was the backbone of the WWE for more than eight months, and the excitement of that feud reached its pinnacle when Bryan won the title at WrestleMania.

And rightly, the WWE put a full stop.

Bryan had nothing more to give to the Authority and the Authority had nothing more to give to Bryan as well. And after seeing him win the championship, the Authority had to do something other than making his life hell for another year.

So now that Triple H is busy trying to dismantle the Shield, what it leaves Bryan with is the opportunity to defend his title against people who don’t come into the match with the possibility of being screwed by the Authority.

It promises to be a juicy affair since Bryan could go against Cena, Cesaro or even Lesnar who is fresh off of breaking Undertaker’s streak.

#2 The possibility of a rift within the Shield

In the last two major feuds that the Shield had, there was nothing which could’ve acted as a catalyst for their break up.

Bray Wyatt could play mind games with them and Kane and New Age Outlaws were nothing more than jobbers for them. But what the Authority brings to the table are some exciting prospects.

Once this match happens, there will always be a possibility of any of the stable members turning on their team.

Why? Because Triple H is manipulative, that’s why.

The Shield breaking up and one part joining the Authority would make all the sense in the world. And the possibilities are many, what with each of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns equally capable of joining the Authority.

#1 It could cement the Shield as a major faction in the modern era

Over the years, there have been many stables in the WWE. After Evolution, there was Edge and his La familia, Randy Orton and Legacy, and of course the Wyatt Family.

But none of them achieved the greatness that Evolution attained. The Wyatt Family too are mainly all about Bray Wyatt and the other two are nothing more than supporting characters. But the Shield is a stable that gives and has always given importance to all 3 of its members.

There is a big fan base for each member of the Shield and they flourish at different levels. But when compared to the Evolution, the Shield still has a long way to go.

So how could we solve that problem? Let Shield defeat Evolution.

Shield defeating Evolution will be some sort of a torch passing moment and beating the best is going to make Shield the best.

Its arguably the biggest push that they can get as a stable and that’s why a match between the two teams at Extreme Rules is best for business.
