WWE Battleground 2014: 3 Possible Endings for the Battle Royal

WWEs love of Battle royals is on an all-time high this year. The fans have seen battle royals for this, battle royals for that and the latest addition to that list would be the one at the Battleground pay-per-view which is supposed to crown a new Intercontinental champion. The match will be packed with midcarder and many former champions with all of them having chances in one way or the other to taste some gold. Its not an easy task to fill in the void left by Bad News Barrett but if pulled off the right way, the company could restore credibility to the Intercontinental title. So here is a look at the possible endings for the Battle Royal.

#3 A stale clean ending

This is the easiest way to book Battle royal matches and though it’s boring at some levels, if the match is good with spots, then the fans are not going to be concerned about the ending.

And to make the ending carry a story, Rob Van Dam can have a final run as the intercontinental champion which is something he deserves for the efforts he is putting into the company right now.

The other scenarios include Cesaro getting the gold to help him break out from the shadow of Brock Lesnar once the beast returns. The creative could also include Sheamus into the match and let him win making it one title midcard just like WWE title.

However, above all this, Bo Dallas or a returning superstar winning the match can help WWE build his credibility faster.

#2 Double or triple elimination ending

Confusing endings to battle royal matches were a main stay back in the 90s. Such endings have given some great base for future angles and a long storyline.

WWE hasn’t used the same in recent times but they could change that at Battleground. There are so many talented names in the match that could benefit from this sort of ending and company can also have a good Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam.

This would be more effective than finding one random winner and then finding a contender for him later. It could also be a triple elimination end just like WWE did back in NXT with Sami Zayn, Tyson Kidd and Tyler Breeze.

Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, Big E and Alberto Del Rio are the front runners for the same and they will be also having a good angle backed match for summer’s biggest event as well rather than having random matches or being out of the match card.

#1 Barrett returning to take out the winner

Bad News Barrett was arguably one of the best champions in the roster when he was having his run. Unfortunately, his injury put an end that run leaving him out of ring.

There aren’t many details about when Barrett would be fit to compete again, but if he will be back in time for SummerSlam, what the company could do is let him involve in the ending of the battle royal.

Barrett could just make a surprise entry and take out the winner to make it clear that he wants his title back. The winner could be the creative’s choice with Cesaro being the best choice. Barrett and Cesaro having a match at Summerslam would be a great deal for both the wrestlers and the intercontinental title.

Also, just like how Barrett excels with the microphone, Cesaro has Paul Heyman by his side to make matters more interesting.

It would also be add the surprise factor to the WWE fans that will only expect a new winner and will be blown away with the twist in the end.
