WWE Battleground: 5 Superstars who will shine at the Pay-per-view

This years Money in the Bank pay per - view was nothing short of historical as it crowned a new champion and a new contract holder. Results like these are pushing the status of Money in the bank to levels which only the top four events enjoy. And one of those top four events, the SummerSlam is right around the corner but before WWE brings us that, they have to serve a buffer dish which everyone calls the Battleground.Falling in between two big pay per views of a year, Battleground is sure to raise some eyebrows with the performances that superstars would offer. So here is a look at which all names deserves to be followed at WWEs next pay per view outing.

#5 Seth Rollins

Money in the Bank had a lot of names fighting it for many reasons but in the end, it was Seth Rollins who came above all of them to be the top performer of the night.

Rollins is almost sure to carry his momentum forward after a career making Money in the bank.

He might go on to face Dean Ambrose with the briefcase on the line and with the chemistry that the two have, the match should be a cracker.

Along with that, the guaranteed title shot that he has in his hands could come instrumental if the company opts to let Rollins get the title soon making Rollins one of those superstars who will surely make an impact in one way or the other at Battleground.

#4 Cesaro

The Swiss Superman hasn’t been having a great run for some time and all of that might change once he sets foot in the ring for the battle royal to determine new Intercontinental champion.

For the past couple of pay – per – views, Cesaro was put into matches where there were other people who could overshadow whatever he did between the ropes. But the battle royal would be a kind of match which will offer Cesaro a stage.

At WrestleMania, he delivered a great performance in the Andre the Giant memorial battle royal and it was there to be seen for everyone. WWE has to pull off something similar for Cesaro at Battle ground and this level of desperation would work in favor of Paul Heyman’s client who deserves some gold.

#3 AJ Lee

AJ Lee returned to the WWE roster after a break of almost three months and took back the Divas title from Paige. Though it was a bit sad from Paige’s perspective, this opens up the door for a great feud between the two.

First stage of this dream feud will certainly be held at Battleground and from the two divas, AJ has all the ammunition to shine.

It will be her first pay – per – view match in a long time and a big stage to prove her that she hasn’t lost the touch. Also there will be a lot of emotions in the match since Paige has a score to settle with the Divas champion.

Good setting and stakes might act as a pressure, but AJ is someone who worked through such situations and came out smiling.

#2 Chris Jericho

Just like AJ Lee, Jericho is someone who made his big return after a good gap. He entered directly into a feud with the Wyatt Family and the fans accepting Jericho might hint that he will be there at Battleground to face Bray Wyatt.

It’s a match that has happened before but this doesn’t lower the stakes by any bit. Jericho will be wrestling after ages while Bray is at an awkward position of his career which provides ideal setting for an all-out match.

The only concern in the WWE would be about the physical capability of Jericho and how well he could execute a match. This was one of the factors which made Batistas return a flop but if Jericho manages to hide his flaws, it will be a return worth watching.

#1 John Cena

John Cena walked out of Money in the bank as the WWE World Heavyweight champion. However, the booking that Cena got in the match wasn’t something which the company usually gives their champions.

He was made to look weak at most of the times and was on the receiving side of many offenses. The win in the end just masked all that weakness he projected out but this is the kind of booking that WWE can’t do with Cena at Battleground.

He is the champion that will carry the title through to SummerSlam and most probably face Brock Lesnar there. WWE wouldn’t want their ‘face’ to look bad before his big meeting with the beast meaning that the Cenation leader will be booked strongly.

Names like Roman Reigns, Randy Orton and Kane as competitors make matters better for Cena who is bound to shine as the champ.
