WWE Fastlane 2016: 5 Possible outcomes for the main-event

Finally?

Who will face Triple H?WWE Fastlane is only hours away, and this opportunity could be used to try and predict outcomes for the main event, which will indeed directly impact WrestleMania 32. The winner between Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose will head into the WWE World Heavyweight Championship main event at WrestleMania, against Triple H.But who will that person be? It could be anyone, and all three have reasons to be booked to win. But the question remains as to whose reasons outweigh the others’.This article will first look at three orthodox endings for the match, and then looks at two rather unusual ones (although, there really isn’t anything unusual in the professional wrestling world).

#1 Roman Reigns wins

Finally?

Storyline-wise, this is the most logical route that WWE could take with this match. Roman Reigns has been screwed out of the title numerous times by the Authority, and Triple H has, more often than not, been at the helm of it.

When Reigns finally lost it and took Triple H out of action, he captured the gold, and then Triple H would return and steal it from him yet again, this time for himself. Reigns would want his title back, and Triple H would look to avenge the beating he received from Reigns. It makes perfect sense as it builds drama, tension, and makes for intriguing television.

Then again, people might not be happy with that. Some people are already saying that Roman Reigns has had too much limelight (despite it being only about three months) and that it’s someone else’s turn.

Will WWE ignore the criticism, like last time – which actually worked out very well – or will they give in?

#2 Brock Lesnar rolls through

Again?

Brock Lesnar has had a three-match saga with Triple H before; SummerSlam 2012; WrestleMania 29; and Extreme Rules 2013, in which he came out on top with a 2-1 tally of results. One thing for sure about any encounter between these two men is that it always feels like a spectacle. Both Triple H and Lesnar are selling points for the WWE, especially Lesnar.

Having Lesnar be in the main event would be a great decision because it would likely put people in seats, but the drawbacks are that this match has happened numerous times before, and it would steal the spotlight from the younger Reigns and Ambrose.

If the aim is simply to sell, then this match would work. But if it is to elevate someone, or to make people happy, this match is not the one that is needed in the main event of WrestleMania.

#3 Dean Ambrose shocks everyone

A surprise?

The lowest odds, perhaps, are with Dean Ambrose. He neither has the sheer selling ability of Brock Lesnar nor does he have the creative direction or faith that Roman Reigns has.

But one thing that Dean Ambrose does have, above the other two, is support and popularity. He’s arguably the most over babyface there is at the moment, and if WWE really wants to make the fans happy, above all else, they would book Ambrose to win.

He doesn’t have the build that the other two men have, but he does have the ability, and the strength to carry a match. This isn’t very likely, but it’s a welcome surprise if it happens.

Increasing his odds, perhaps, is the fact that he lost his Intercontinental Championship recently. That title is likely to be defended at WrestleMania, and if Ambrose still had it, it would be obvious that he would lose this match so that he could be in another match. Now, though, he has a better chance, and you never know what could happen.

#4 Lesnar is taken out, Reigns and Ambrose both win

Still friends?

This is where the outcomes get a little crazy.

Leading into the Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar had a little program with the Wyatt Family, and they even eliminated him from the Royal Rumble match. It seemed, or seems, to be highly likely that a Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar match would happen in the near future, and that near future could be WrestleMania 32.

In true Wyatt Family fashion, the stable could intervene in this match, and destroy Lesnar to a point where he cannot continue (this could happen with only Reigns or Ambrose winning as well). This would leave Reigns and Ambrose, which is an interesting narrative viewpoint considering the tension between the two men on Raw this past week.

In this scenario, both men could outwrestle each other and eventually both stay down for a ten count, ending the match in a draw, and setting up a Triple Threat main event for WrestleMania, with some interesting story elements to build up the match.

It would be exciting to see.

#5 The Rock shows up and creates a crazy 5-man WrestleMania main event

Not likely, but a man can dream

Closing out this list is something so ridiculous, it may be considered by the WWE Creative.

The Rock announced that he will be at WrestleMania 32, on the and even showed up on an episode of Raw. It’s been rumoured that he will be involved in an episode with The Usos and The New Day, but this highly unlikely use of him could be brilliant.

At some point in the match, The Rock could interfere, and actually, assist Roman Reigns to victory. The next night on Raw, furious that Reigns will be in the main event of WrestleMania, Triple H would tell The Rock that he is a dead man, and places him in the match too in an attempt to get his hands on him.

At the same time, Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose could argue that they didn’t lose the match fairly, and also get placed into the match. With WWE recently having a Fatal-5-Way match on Raw, this sort of thing is possible.

It makes no sense, but it likely would sell a lot of seats.
