WWE RAW 1st February 2016 - 3 Things that worked

A very well executed confrontation

Miz did what he does best – get heat!Much of the latest episode of Raw revolved around the title picture and that’s why this episode worked mostly because the main storyline that they’ve got going was executed pretty well. The particular interaction between Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose worked in spades. It was something that was quite gutsy on Ambrose’s part and works extremely well for the babyface.Lesnar was his imposing self, amused by Ambrose’s proclamations. Other than that, there was little that worked entirely so well as much as how Ambrose and Brock Lesnar kicked off Raw to give one of the better opening segments of the year. Here are the 3 things that worked for Raw-

#1 Neither crazy nor stupid

A very well executed confrontation

Dean Ambrose looked Brock Lesnar in the eye and asked to be taken to Suplex City and quite characteristically told him, that in spite of the beating that awaits him at the hands of the Beast, he will still rise.

He’s a survivor and if there’s anything that his independent background tells us, then it’s the fact that he’s faced worse situations than being in the ring with an anomaly like Lesnar.

The story that unraveled between Ambrose and Lesnar was quite intriguing and very well executed. It was another moment to mark the absolute awesomeness that Ambrose can exude on the mic.

#2 Swim with the sharks, AJ

The Miz was terrific as a heel

The Miz invited AJ Styles to be the guest on his show and did the talking for him.

The entire segment was great because Miz was so great at getting heat. That despite not getting an overwhelming reaction from the crowd initially, Miz’s heel work generated much support for Styles that the audience kept chanting his name and leapt with cheers when he finally attacked The Miz – all the more when Miz scampered away from the ring.

The Miz is such a great hype guy, give him such content to work with and he makes it entertaining. Particularly liked his line about how WWE is much about the ‘E’ as much as the ‘W’. Very characteristic of him to say that.

#3 Stephanie McMahon\'s segment

Stephanie McMahon tried her best to break apart Ambrose and Reigns

Backstage, Ambrose and Reigns were at Stephanie McMahon’s office possibly because they were summoned by her to know about their match later on.

But while they were dreaming about taking the title that lay in front of them, McMahon sauntered into the room and tried to bring some chaos between the brothers. She ran down both them respectively and then told them how friendships just don’t last in this business.

Take Seth Rollins for instance. And then of course ‘Absolute power corrupts absolutely’. She nailed that line with the segment.
