WWE RAW 21st April 2014 - Five promising developments

Raw usually has more negatives than positives as far as individual storylines or character developments go. But ever since the Road to Wrestlemania kicked off, it has pleasantly surprised, atleast me, with some really fantastic moments. This Raw added to that belief. Here are, what seems like, the five promising developments for the near future

#1 The Road to Extreme Rules

Stephanie McMahon, Kane and Daniel Bryan came together to provide a segment which precisely captured how extreme Extreme Rules might get. Unlike many veterans in the company who's character tends to get tame every passing minute, Kane made quite a comeback with his vicious attack and his mask. Bryan was the victim who was literally seemed down and out.

#2 The Brawl

Two European wrestlers with a reputation of being brawlers entered the ring and gave a remarkable match. And as an added treat, it was Bad News Barrett who came out on top. It seems he will defeat RVD to face Big E and it would be apt to see to current stars with probable bright futures to fight it out for a once very prestigious title. Barrett's brawling skills, his persona and his recent gimmick allows him to look laidback and jovial and at the same time intimidating.

#3 \"Do We Look Humbled To You?\"

Ambrose put that one perfectly. The WWE did a got job of highlighting what Evolution was capable of and it was even better to see the young prodigies in the Shield look fearless and unscathed by Evolution's overdominating demeanor. And it was also nice to see Orton in formals, it gives his heel character a nice touch. It adds on to his narcissistic persona. The tension is going to build up in the coming weeks. We can only wait and watch if this escalates the levels of excitement that the Wyatts and the Shield had.

#4 A pleasant surprise

In a rematch to their match on Smackdown, Aksana and Paige faced each other and it wasn't bad as almost all of Aksana's matches. Till now, Paige has had better matches than AJ Lee had during the beginning of her title reign. Sure, Paige needs a rival soon and there is no one better and compelling than AJ Lee but these little surprises on the way are great.

And they are making Paige's character grow gradually but steadily. I think it is a development which will see her eventuaslly turn into a badass. Atleast I hope so.

#5 The Showstopper is Here

No, not Shawn Michaels. It's Wyatt. Bray Wyatt and his family.

They epitomise the meaning of consistency. They might not be consistent in having great matches everytime like the Shield but by far the most compelling moments have been produced by them. And Cena has been a great sport and challenge in stepping up this storyline. Cena has started to look a bit frustrated and maybe hurt at how the Wyatts are gathering their followers. This charcter shift in itself makes this storyline feel really important and Wyatt singing is the single most creepiest and awesomest thing. Encore!
