WWE Monday Night Raw: 28 July, 2014 - Top 5 Moments of the Week

This week’s Raw wasn’t one of those shows that WWE would recall from the archives. Apart from two matches and two segments, there was nothing to cheer for the WWE universe but a handful of moments defined the night.Crowd which gathered in the Toyota Centre were treated with an explosive start to the show but soon the fire cooled off thanks to some unwanted booking from the creative team. Instead of giving major angles a place in the card, it was the midcarders who got the pick to fill in live television.Standing at a crucial period like this, it wasn’t the most graceful move from the company and here is a look at those moments that stood out from the lot.

#5 Ending of Bos streak

WWE’s love of ending good things fast was out there to be seen this week and the inspirational Bo Dallas was on the receiving side.

The undefeated streak of Bo had all the potential to go on and become a good storyline in the midcard. WWE writers though otherwise made R-Truth of all people break the streak.

Post-match breakdown of Bo was impressive but if it had been a better opponent, WWE could’ve pushed the storyline forward after that post match attack.

It was one of the worst booking decisions of this week but the fans in attendance and the internet fans erupted when it ended showing how well it could’ve gone if given enough time.

#4 Orton unleashing himself

For more than a year, Randy Orton’s character has been stuck in the big shadow that was cast by the Authority. He didn’t have much of a say with the fans either because of that but this week, Orton simply unleashed the wrath that accumulated in him over the time.

It was this face of Orton that the fans loved to see and though it was supposed to come earlier, better late than never.

Reigns being on the end of this vicious destruction made it more impactful and it was sweet payback for the Viper. WWE is moving ahead with the idea of having Orton face Reigns at SummerSlam and not many would complain if Orton is booked like this through the buildup to the pay-per-view.

One problem to solve however would be the status of Kane as he looked lost out there between these two rivals.

#3 Midair Code breaker

Jericho getting involved with the Authority wasn’t something that the WWE Universe might’ve expected to happen this week. He proved to be a paramount threat for Stephanie and Hunter with the microphone and having him involved in a match with Rollins made sense since Ambrose was not there.

Once these two stepped in the ring and started the match, everyone thought that they will surpass the previous match put together by Cesaro and Cena but a botched ending destroyed these hopes.

However, this didn’t stop Jericho and Rollins from giving a midair Code breaker which is sure to go down the archives as a top move.

The move being executed to perfection despite the two wrestlers being from different generations deserves appreciation and hopefully this will not be the end of Jericho – Rollins matches in the WWE.

#2 John Cenas Attitude Adjustment from top rope

What most fans expected this week from Cena was to give some kind of answer to Brock Lesnar and make fun of him in some capacity.

However, Cena surprised everyone by coming out and giving and intense promo that was one of his best works in recent times. And to follow that up, Cena stepped in the ring with Cesaro which looked like to be a joke from the WWE to mock the Internet fans.

The match turned out to be more than that as both men showed good chemistry while Cena was trying to execute new moves than sticking with his five move set.

This effort gave birth to one of the best moment of the night and it was none other than Cena’s finishing maneuver, the Attitude Adjustment. Why it stood out from the rest? Well, to make it simple, Cena pulled it off from the top rope.

#1 Stephanies transition

The fans got to see an emotionally driven segment as climax of this week’s show and it was Stephanie who shone like a vampire in the limelight.

When the show started, Stephanie was looking like a weak mother who didn’t want to look bad in front of her children, but as it progressed she started showing her true colors. And this reached its epitome in when she slapped Brie and morphed into everything that Jericho said she was.

The whole feud received a big push thanks to this performance from Stephanie and she carried Brie along with her as well.

Stephanie stepping in between the ropes to wrestle will be one of the most anticipated moments of SummerSlam after this.
