Serena Williams took an interesting approach to promoting her new venture, WYN Beauty, by going roller-skating.

Serena Williams has been nurturing her other ambitions since retiring from professional tennis in September 2021 and recently turned her entrepreneurial talent into a full-fledged venture with the launch of WYN Beauty. The brand was launched with a 10-piece collection in early April and caters to the needs of a wide spectrum of skin tones.

The American tennis legend has been hard at work promoting WYN Beauty and recently took to social media with her latest attempt. In an Instagram post, Williams shared pictures after going roller skating while wearing WYN Beauty makeup and said that her makeup stayed intact even after skating, highlighting the product's durability.

"Even while rollerskating, @wyn makeup stays. And it was a hit! ✨," Serena Williams captioned the post.

Serena Williams spoke to skincare and beauty magazine Byrdie to mark the launch of WYN Beauty and spoke at length about her beauty journey and inspiration behind launching a makeup brand of her own.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion looked back on her early experience with beauty products and how they were not apt for someone with melanin-rich skin. Williams said that there were not many options available 20 years ago and the few brands that did cater to Black skin were not available everywhere.

"Back then, brands [made us feel like] we had to fit their standard of beauty. When I was traveling 20 years ago, brands didn't offer 40 shades. Many products weren't made for Black skin. We had brands like Iman Cosmetics and Black Opal, but they weren't always available where I was. I had to learn to do my makeup so I could present myself in the best way," Williams said.

The former World No. 1 also provided a few details about how WYN Beauty products were manufactured. Williams revealed that all WYN Beauty products are made with plant-based "clean formulas" and reflect her lifestyle. The 42-year-old has a farm and eats "clean" produce from there, and she wants to use chemical-free makeup products on her face.

"I wanted to focus on long-wearing, 'clean' formulas because that's how I live my life. I have a farm and try to eat 'clean,' so I also apply that approach to what I put on my face," she said.
